Spring runs long at Palmetto Bluff. From early May through the end of June, the calendar fills up with music, markets, kids’ camps, waterway excursions, and the kind of everyday programming that gives you a real picture of life here.
The Farm is in full production, the May River is busy with cruises and kayak tours, and the Conservancy runs field programs almost every week. The Moreland Amphitheater, the trails, Longfield Stables—all of it comes alive in these two months in a way that no other season quite matches.
These are the highlights: signature events, recurring programming, and a few things worth reserving now.
The Artist in Residence program brings a new guest each season—artists, musicians, educators, and makers who offer a different lens on the Lowcountry. May and June each have their own.
Grace Miller Moody is a Florence, South Carolina native who earned four chair turns on NBC’s The Voice, all four judges rotating for the chance to work with her. She comes to Palmetto Bluff as the June Artist in Residence for a single evening at the Moreland Amphitheater, performing in the kind of intimate setting that a voice like hers deserves.
Spring is the Farm’s best season. Tomato varieties—Better Boy, Big Beef, Cherokee Purple, and others—grow alongside six types of peppers, eggplant, squash, zucchini, and a rotating selection of herbs, all of it making its way to the property’s restaurants and to the weekly market that draws Members back to The Farm all season long. A few highlights from the spring schedule include:
The Palmetto Bluff Farmers Market brings together Palmetto Bluff–grown produce, local vendors, and fresh goods from the Club’s pastry team. It’s one of those recurring constants that Members build their mornings around, and a good introduction to the rhythm of life at the Bluff for anyone visiting for the first time.
Pick a tomato straight from the vine and build a sandwich with it minutes later. It’s a Member favorite for good reason, an event that sounds simple and turns out to be exactly what you were craving.
The May River is one of the most compelling reasons to be at Palmetto Bluff in the spring. Wilson Landing’s fleet is active year-round, with private cruises, clinics, and guided excursions running alongside the broader waterway programming offered by Outside Palmetto Bluff. Here are a few events worth building your schedule around:
A private cruise aboard the Hinckley Picnic Yacht, Miranda, open exclusively to Palmetto Bluff Club Members. Six passengers, charcuterie, beer, and two bottles of wine. It’s a simple format that works beautifully on the May River at night. The Summer Solstice cruise (June 20) and Father’s Day cruise (June 21) follow the same setup, and the Strawberry Moon closes out June on the 29th.
Outside Palmetto Bluff’s sunset dinner cruise runs aboard the catamaran Ohana over Memorial Day Weekend. Chefs prepare hibachi tableside—steak, chicken, or shrimp with vegetables, rice, and a fresh side salad—as the sun drops over the river and the evening settles in.
A weekly offering from Outside Palmetto Bluff that blends gentle movement with the natural rhythm of the May River, surrounded by marsh views and the sounds of the Lowcountry. Open to all levels.
Memorial Day Weekend at Palmetto Bluff is full of festivity and celebration. The schedule opens with a flag-raising ceremony on the May River Lawn and closes with a pig roast on Moreland Green, with a triathlon, a backyard BBQ, and an afternoon pool party filling out the days in between.
A Members-only mini triathlon and relay built around three legs: a 330m pool swim, a six-mile bike, and a two-mile run. Compete solo or put together a relay team of two or three—either way, it’s a good reason to earn the pig roast later that evening.
All-you-can-eat smoked meats, live music, and a lively, celebratory atmosphere on Moreland Green to close out the weekend—reserved exclusively for Palmetto Bluff Club Members.
Memorial Day opens with a ceremony honoring veterans at the May River Lawn, held promptly at 8 am and open to Palmetto Bluff Club Members. Veterans are especially encouraged to attend, and complimentary coffee will be served.
Summer programming for children and families of the Bluff runs from late May through the end of June and is built around the full breadth of Palmetto Bluff’s offerings. Whether it’s a single Friday evening or a full week of camp, there’s a program for nearly every age group.
A Members-only summer camp program running four weekly sessions, each with its own theme: Into the Wild (June 1 through 4), EPCOT-inspired (June 8 through 11), HalloThanksMas (June 15 through 18), and Campers vs.Counselors (June 22 through 25). Activities include outdoor challenges, teamwork competitions, and daily excursions across the property that the kids cannot stop talking about when they get home.
Open to Members’ children and families, this full week at Longfield Stables includes daily riding lessons led by the stables’ instructors, hands-on horse care, farm-based activities, and outdoor adventures across the property. It’s an immersive introduction to horsemanship in one of Palmetto Bluff’s most beautiful settings.
A weekly evening program exclusively for the Bluff’s youngest members, with a different theme each week—scavenger hunts, glow parties, underwater adventures, game shows, and more. Dinner is included, and every night ends with something unexpected.
The Palmetto Bluff Conservancy runs a field calendar through May and June that covers the full range of the property’s ecosystems—from the hardwood forests and native wildflower meadows to the salt marsh and tidal estuaries of the May River. Here’s a sample of what’s on the schedule:
Each year, Palmetto Bluff participates in an international bird documentation event at the peak of spring migration. Volunteers join Conservancy Educator Aaron Palmieri as team leaders, identifiers, and spotters, helping document the remarkable bird life across the property. It’s one of the most energetic mornings on the Conservancy calendar.
Fireflies are rare in most of the country now. At Palmetto Bluff, there are still places to find them, and this evening outing visits those spots with the Conservancy team as your guide. It’s the kind of experience that reminds you how special this property is after dark.
Isaiah Scott of Ike’s Birding Hikes is a Lowcountry local who fell in love with birding at 14 and went on to graduate from Cornell in 2025 with a degree in Environment and Sustainability. He runs his own bird guiding operation and brings that depth of knowledge and genuine passion to this outing at Palmetto Bluff. Participants will receive a bird guide illustrated by Isaiah himself, highlighting the most common species found on the property. Closed-toe shoes and long pants are required. Reservations: info@pbconservancy.org.
Captain Amber has spent her life on the May River, and her ecotours reflect that depth of knowledge. She leads groups through the salt marsh, tidal estuaries, and the waterways in between, teaching the ecosystems and the creatures that call them home in a way that stays with you long after the boat docks.
Montage Palmetto Bluff’s spring calendar runs alongside Club programming and is open to Members across both months. The events span art, food, and live music, and several are complimentary—making it easy to add a Montage evening to whatever else is already on the calendar. For those staying at the Montage in the coming week, here are a few events worth adding to the calendar:
Artistry in Octagon brings the Lowcountry’s landscapes and culture to the table in a new way. Through June, that’s East Coast painter David Randall, whose work is shaped by a lifelong connection to the coastlines and natural environments of the Eastern Seaboard. His pieces are on view as you dine, and the conversations they spark are half the experience.
Oyster roasts at Moreland Landing are a seasonal tradition at Palmetto Bluff, and this one delivers everything the tradition promises with fresh oysters, a Lowcountry boil, a full spread of sides, and live music, all set against the May River views from the five-story treehouse.
Two pianists take the stage at Hush for an evening of friendly musical rivalry spanning genres and eras. It’s one of the better complimentary evenings on the spring calendar, and Hush’s intimate setting is a natural fit.
The events on this calendar are a good window into what Palmetto Bluff looks like when it’s fully in season. The Farm, the May River, the Conservancy trails, the Moreland Amphitheater—all of it is worth seeing firsthand. If you’ve been thinking about what life here could look like, spring is the time to find out.
