Tis’ the season for wrapping, and we have plenty of gifts to share from 2024! This year was filled with exciting new beginnings and continued growth at Palmetto Bluff. From two new golf courses to awards for both Montage Palmetto Bluff and FLOW Gallery + Workshop and an abundance of community celebrations, it was a year of memory-making events. Here are our Top 10 Unforgettable Moments at Palmetto Bluff for 2024.
The grand opening of Palmetto Bluff’s Bluff’s King-Collins 9-hole golf course, Crossroads, kicked off 2024 in spectacular fashion in January. The course quickly became a member favorite, celebrated for its relaxed atmosphere and innovative reversible design. National golf media took notice, with coverage in prestigious outlets such as Forbes, Robb Report, and Links Magazine. Crossroads’ early success sets the stage for the next chapter in Palmetto Bluff’s golf story, with a new Coore-Crenshaw-designed course breaking ground in 2024 and slated to open in Winter 2025-2026.
The Arts Initiative recently wrapped up another fantastic year of creativity, bringing 11 talented artists to Palmetto Bluff for a series of intimate workshops, demonstrations, and gallery openings at FLOW Gallery + Workshop. A cherished part of the Palmetto Bluff experience, The Arts Initiative supports artistic innovation and expression by showcasing a diverse range of artists, craftsmen, musicians, makers, and chefs.
Stay tuned for the announcement of the 2025 Artist Line-Up, coming in February!
This year added yet another prestigious accolade to Montage Palmetto Bluff’s list of awards for hotel excellence. Earning the sought-after Michelin Two Keys, the resort holds its well-deserved place as one of the best stays in the country. Already a favorite destination for incredible weddings and vacations, Montage Palmetto Bluff continues to delight guests with its exemplary hospitality and breathtaking Lowcountry scenery.
The Palmetto Bluff Club’s annual Halloween event was a spine-tingling success, bringing together members and locals for a night of frightening fun. This year’s theme for The Haunting of Palmetto Bluff—”The Lost Circus”—offered a twist on a past Club event, the Palmetto Bluff Circus. This year, the circus never left, leaving behind creepy clowns, maniacal ringmasters, and ghostly circus performers who roamed the woods.
Events like these are just a glimpse of the unique experiences the Club offers throughout the year, creating memories that linger long after you finally catch your breath.
A highlight of 2024 was the long-awaited groundbreaking of Palmetto Bluff’s new 18-hole golf course, designed by the renowned team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. Nestled within the maritime forest along the scenic New River, the course promises to offer a distinctive and challenging experience for golfers of all skill levels, inviting them to return time and again. Developed in partnership with South Street Partners and The Conservancy, the course has been thoughtfully designed to integrate seamlessly with its natural surroundings, preserving wildlife corridors, incorporating native plants, and respecting the area’s unique ecology. Most notably, the course will be free of residential development, ensuring the experience will be a uniquely pure field of play. We are excited to watch the course take shape in 2025 and look forward to sharing this remarkable addition with our community. Stay tuned!
Fourth of July is one of the most-loved events for residents of the Bluff. Members parade around Wilson Village with cleverly decorated carts ready to compete for “Best Parade Float” during this day of community celebration. Afterwards, amid the soulful sounds of the 13-piece band Big Swing and a cool breeze from the river, revelers danced the night away while sipping on root beer floats and enjoying smash burgers, hot dogs, and Cracker Jack popcorn. It was an epic Independence Day at Palmetto Bluff!
FLOW FEST 2024, held on the banks of the May River on a beautiful October day, was a vibrant celebration of Lowcountry talent and creativity. With live performances by Bluffton-based Deas Guyz and Charleston-based The Secrets, an artisan market featuring over 20 Southern artists, and delicious food from local vendors, FLOW FEST brought the community together for a day of music, art, and fun! Attendees enjoyed complimentary craft tastings from Sweet Melissa, River Dog Brewing Company, and Bee-Town Mead & Cider, while proceeds from the festival supported the Palmetto Bluff Inspiring the Arts Scholarship. It was a day to remember, celebrating the best of our region’s culture and creativity.
December 15th marked the 10th annual Buffalo Run benefitting the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy. Over 550 runners laced up their shoes and ran wooded trails to support Palmetto Bluff’s conservation and protection efforts. With 10k, 30k, and 50k courses, there were plenty of challenges to test registrants’ limits. The 2024 Buffalo Run was the most successful to date, attracting attendees from all over the Southeast and beyond.
