Palmetto Bluff Members: A Look into the Lifestyle

Imagine waking up to a cascading canopy of natural oak trees. You can hear the sounds of the May River careening in the background and smell the aroma of finely ground espresso slowly engulfing your waterfront home. Palmetto Bluff residents wake up to a life of luxury—each day filled with enchanting and exciting activities.

Daybreak on the Bluff

As the day breaks, take a deep breath and let the coastal breeze wake you up. If you’re an early bird, you may decide to indulge in a private yoga session on the veranda or participate in a group-led cycling session at The Boundary. But if you prefer to start your morning immersed in nature, a brisk walk or run through the canopy at the River Road Preserve offers a breathtaking view of the early morning sun filtering through the treetops.

Slow Down by the River

Sip your coffee or tea slowly if you need a more gentle start to your day. Then, settle in on the porch for an optimal bird-watching experience. To further explore your surroundings, you can go for a stroll near the riverbanks and look at all of the natural Lowcountry landscapes and waterways. There are a myriad of trails and paths to explore at the River Road Preserve.

For those looking for adventure, fishing can provide a bit more excitement. Palmetto Bluff offers various aquatic fauna in the May, Cooper, and New Rivers. After you’ve reeled your line back in and have listened to the sounds of the water and wildlife, you can grab a delicious riverside snack. For a satisfying breakfast in Moreland Village, head to The Canteen for a savory avocado tartine.

Play a Round of Golf

There’s nothing like heading out for an early morning round of golf. Palmetto Bluff has a world-class course, May River Golf Course, designed by the one and only Jack Nicklaus. Play a solo round to work on your “A” game, or play with friends to enjoy a bit of competitive fun and camaraderie. For those looking for a more relaxed yet equally enjoyable experience, Crossroads golf course offers a fantastic setting to practice your swing and take in the stunning Lowcountry scenery. And coming soon, golf enthusiasts can look forward to a brand-new 18-hole course designed by the renowned duo Coore & Crenshaw—an exciting addition that promises to elevate the Bluff’s golf experience even further.

An Afternoon Dream

As the midday sun begins to spread across the sky, you might find yourself running a few errands or catching some outdoor time. There’s a wide array of water activities to try, such as paddle boarding or kayaking. If you are new to these kinds of activities, you can start by taking an introductory course offered by Outside Palmetto Bluff

Next, after you cross off your to-do list, shift gears and get active at Wilson Lawn & Racquet Club. Whether you’re rallying on the tennis court or diving into a fast-paced game of pickleball, it’s the perfect way to energize your afternoon. Challenge a friend to a friendly match or join a group clinic to sharpen your skills while enjoying the fresh Lowcountry air and vibrant community atmosphere.

Try a New Lunch Spot

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, grab a glass of wine and a beet salad at Buffalos in Wilson Village. This neighborhood offers a wide range of activities and river access that provides stunning views. With a glass of pinot noir and a view of the May River, you’re guaranteed an experience to remember. You can now tackle the rest of your afternoon feeling refreshed and renewed.

As the first established neighborhood in Palmetto Bluff, Wilson Village offers the optimal Lowcountry experience with beautifully crafted architecture and abounding views. Click the button below to view our homesites and learn more about our neighborhoods.

Learn Something New

After a filling lunch with a few friends, dive into a hands-on experience with the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy. Join an expert-led nature walk to learn about native wildlife and their habitats, or participate in a guided birding tour through the maritime forest. For those interested in history, attend a Conservancy talk to explore the Bluff’s archaeological discoveries and rich Lowcountry heritage. These engaging programs offer a deeper connection to the land and the stories it holds.

The Art Initiative at Palmetto Bluff is distinctive and all-encompassing. It creates a meaningful dialogue between artists and the community. Join the Artist In Residence for a workshop and let your creative juices flow.

Explore the Stables

Palmetto Bluff is home to Longfield Stables, a well-renowned equestrian facility on a 173-acre farm. Palmetto Bluff residents can utilize 10 miles of riding trails, in addition to full access to the spacious stables in the main and receiving barns, FEI regulation outdoor dressage arena, covered arena, training facility, and five-acre turf event field.

Dinner and a Nightcap

When the sun sets on the Bluff, the entertainment doesn’t stop—and neither does the elevated experience for Members. Enjoy exclusive access to the Canoe Club, where riverfront views pair perfectly with a refined menu featuring fresh seafood and seasonal favorites. Or head to Cole’s for a more laid-back evening, complete with upscale Southern comfort food, craft cocktails, and even a game of bowling to cap off the night. It’s the perfect way to savor the perks of Membership at Palmetto Bluff.

If you’re heading in from the golf course, make your way to the May River Grill across the way. There, you can admire centuries-old oak trees and the May River Golf Club’s 18th hole. We recommended the citrus and herb roasted half chicken followed by a Tahitian vanilla creme brûlée or espresso martini. Desserts at May River Grill are delectable and will satisfy beyond measure.

Following dinner, you may return home to rest after a long day or, if the evening is still young, dip in one of the many Palmetto Bluff pools. Either way, it’s sure to be an inspiring end to an eventful day.
