Longfield Stables features an activity barn, along with a 24-stall main barn used for member boarding, and a beautiful Club Room, which serves as a venue for member events and gatherings. The stalls at Longfield Stables are spacious, measuring 14′ x 13′ and well-ventilated, with rubber mats, as well as a program to mitigate flies and other insects across the whole property to ensure the comfort of the horses.
One of the highlights of Longfield Stables is the covered arena, which measures 250′ x 130′ and is equipped with state-of-the-art GGT footing. The arena is ideal for training and competitions and provides a comfortable and safe surface for the horses to perform on. There’s also a designated dressage arena, separate from the covered arena, and an enclosed turf field, so riders have plenty of options to choose from.
Also at Longfield Stables, you’ll find a cross country course designed by Olympian John Williams. The track is a great way to test your skills and improve your riding abilities.
Furthermore, Longfield Stables features double-fenced pastures and paddocks that are seeded with Bermuda, Bahia, and Ryegrass. These provide ample grazing and turnout options for the horses. Plus, there are over 10 miles of riding and carriage driving trails that wind through the woods and fields of Palmetto Bluff.

The most requested activity throughout the year by members and guests who want to expand their riding skills and equestrian knowledge is riding lessons. Our superb instructors have been carefully selected based on their experience in various equestrian disciplines ranging from intense trail riding or cattle drives out west to very successful competitive riders and even therapeutic riding each having 10+ years of experience teaching riders at all levels. The emphasis of all programs in the activity barn is focused on education, on or off the horse, and personalized experiences.

For those seeking a more leisurely experience, our guided trail rides offer an exciting opportunity to explore the beautiful woods and fields of Palmetto Bluff on horseback. Our Marsh Tacky geldings, Bravo and Joab, are ready and waiting to take you on a peaceful and scenic tour of our stunning property. Various experiences and customized trail ride experiences are available, however, riders must be 12 years or older to participate. Riding horseback through the Lowcountry scenery is a wonderful way to relax and enjoy nature, so gear up and get ready to ride!
