We welcomed our September in Residence, Emily Pelton from Veritas Vineyard and Winery, to the Artist Cottage last week. A dedicated winemaker at the 50-acre vineyard in Afton, Virginia, Veritas’ passion is creating wines that celebrate the land where their grapes are grown – allowing the land to show its beauty in every new vintage they bottle.
From the vine-covered hills in the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Artist Cottage in Palmetto Bluff, Emily spent the week at the Bluff educating guests about the geography of the Virginia wine region, the history of her family-owned Veritas Winery, and the science and art behind creating various types of vintages. Guests enjoyed a Meet+Greet, Gallery Hours, and three workshops where they learned all about a wine vertical, what happens to wine inside the barrel, including the differences between new and old oak, and the art of blending the perfect red wine.
Check out the recap of Emily’s stay below.
