about Daufuskie Blues: Leanne McJunkin Coulter and Rhonda Davis

Leanne McJunkin Coulter and Rhonda Davis, longtime friends and the creative minds behind Daufuskie Blues, are dedicated to reviving a centuries-old craft in a setting as rich in history as it is inspiring. Their studio, nestled in the charming and historic Maryfield School on Daufuskie Island, South Carolina—accessible only by boat—offers a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of the Lowcountry. Here, art and education blend seamlessly, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in both the craft and the captivating island culture.

Daufuskie BLUE - Indigo Dying Workshop

FLOW Gallery + Workshop | $85

Leanne and Rhonda, the creative minds and (blue) hands behind Daufuskie Blues Indigo Dye Studio, are thrilled to share their passion and expertise in the timeless art of indigo dyeing with the Artist in Residence community. In this exclusive, hands-on workshop, participants will explore the rich history and traditional techniques of indigo dyeing, crafting their very own natural textile scarves.

Leanne and Rhonda will treat each scarf overnight, ensuring a deep, vibrant blue hue. Finished scarves will be available for pick-up the morning of July 4th at FLOW Gallery + Workshop — perfectly timed for participants to adorn their new indigo creations in celebration of Independence Day.
