It was a beautiful few days with pastel artist Susan Mayfield during her tenure as Palmetto Bluff’s October Artist in Residence. On Thursday, workshop participants were treated to a wine tasting provided by the Boundary Bottle Co. in the FLOW Gallery courtyard while Susan led them through the nuances and techniques of working with pastels. The next day, we boarded an Outside Palmetto Bluff vessel for an intimate plein air workshop on Page Island. Adventure ensued with a quick rain shower on our way back to the dock but the group was all smiles after an inspiring day outside in the Lowcountry! We gathered back in the FLOW Gallery courtyard on Saturday morning for a workshop focused on capturing water with pastels. Thank you to Susan and all of our participants for joining us!
