SUMMARY:Brown Bag Lunch: North American Land Trust: Pioneer or Maverick?
DESCRIPTION:In this presentation\, Patty Kennedy\, Southeast Program Director for North American Land Trust (NALT)\, will discuss the land conservation movement across the country and throughout the Southeast—and NALT’s role within it. Importantly\, she will share the story of how the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy came to exist. The trials and tribulations of conserving land are far-reaching\, as more and more of our country is being gobbled up by development or even public lands opened for extraction and commercialization. Yet the need for land conservation is more critical than ever. Across the country\, land trusts—whose missions are to protect and conserve land—come in all shapes and sizes. North American Land Trust’s approach has\, at times\, been viewed as unconventional. Is this approach the right one? Is NALT a maverick among land trusts—or a visionary organization using market forces to achieve better conservation outcomes? Join us for this thought-provoking presentation exploring land conservation in the Lowcountry\, the Southeast\, and across the nation. \nWalk-ins welcome. \nIf you would rather attend virtually\, click on the following link (or copy and paste into your browser) to watch through zoom webinar: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_tx_R-wLJTUGydm9asq067w
