Artist in Residence | Nick Weaver

Written by Palmetto Bluff

Jul 29, 2020

Our 2020 Artist in Residence programming resumed last week when Nick Weaver from Blue Delta Jeans moved into the Artist Cottage. Raised in the Mississippi Delta, Nick's roots run deep in the cotton industry—his parents are third-generation cotton pickers—so a career crafting blue jeans in Mississippi felt like second nature. After graduating from college, Nick and his childhood friend, Josh West, came together to form Blue Delta Jeans, where Nick’s background in sales and former role at a Fortune 100 company has contributed to the company’s rapid growth. A true Southern entrepreneur, Nick has continued to expand the business, always focused on the success of the Mississippi economy.

It was a great week of learning when Nick and his chief design officer, Johnson Benjamin, left Oxford, Mississippi and made their way to Palmetto Bluff to discuss all things blue jeans. Guests enjoyed a Meet+Greet and gallery hours, workshops where they learned the art of creating a pair of bespoke jeans and the history and sewing of denim, plus getting measured for their own pair of custom blue jeans.

Check out the recap of Nick's stay below.
