Job Summary:

The Marina Dock Master will be the liaison between the Marina Manager and yard operations and work hand in hand with the Marina Manager in the planning and budgeting processes. Be responsible in the execution of repairs, daily and monthly projects, and preventative maintenance with the Wilson Landing team. Responsible for the mechanical and cosmetic condition of all Palmetto Bluff vessels and related equipment. Will work hand in hand with Marina Coordinator with respects to launching and retrieving boats and boat club operations. Will always ensure a consistently high level of member satisfaction and pride in Wilson Landing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Job duties include, although are not limited to:

  • Maintain vessels to include all Boat Club, Charter, and Rental boats to the highest standards.
  • Assist with training for Marina Attendants including the creation of protocols for best practices with respect to vessel cleanliness, operation, and organization.
  • Assist and oversee Marina Attendants with day to day launching and recovery of boats.
  • Assist Marina Manager in developing operating procedures for routine maintenance of all vessels, docks and facilities including mechanical, safety, and cosmetic upkeep and repairs.
  • Create and maintain maintenance logs.
  • Maintain and order replacement parts and necessary cleaning agents and tools to perform preventative maintenance.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and continue education to effect repairs on diesel, outboard, and electric boat systems.
  • Participate with Marina Manager in the acquisition and replacement schedule of Marina vessels and equipment.
  • Assist in scheduling of staff.
  • Assist Marina Coordinator with scheduling of services repairs, maintenance and detailing.
  • Assist Marina Coordinator with scheduling of Boat Club Training for new club members.
  • Track and control expenses associated with vessel repair and maintenance.
  • Communicate with captains and boat users about potential repairs and enhancements to equipment.
  • Prepare vessels for inspection and assure compliance with all regulation.
  • Participate in the creation of all member and guest communication.
  • Assist in forklift operations as needed.
  • Assist in operations as requested by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years of experience in the marina industry.
  • Excellent customer service guest relations.
  • Two years of experience operating a marina forklift.
  • Strong understanding of boat storage/dry stack facilities.
  • Highly ethical.
  • Extremely versatile leader.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English.
  • Excel, Word and PowerPoint literate.
  • Experience with vessel detailing, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to details.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, maturely and compassionately with members in writing and in person.
  • Excellent customer service guest relations.
  • Maintains a valid OUPV (6-Pax) license or higher; Master Captain’s license is very much preferred.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work tasks may be performed both indoors and outdoors. Will encounter variable outdoor weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy and wet weather. Must be able to lift 75lbs. May need to remain standing for extended periods of time. Able to work near moving/mechanical parts and on local waterways Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and listening occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates. Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed.
