Job Summary:

The Equestrian Groom will provide exceptional customer service and care to members, guests, associates and horses while administering programs at Longfield Stables. This individual will be responsible for the upkeep of the horses, facilities, and paddocks. Will always ensure a consistently high level of satisfaction and pride at Longfield Stables.

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

  • The Lead Groom will provide top quality care and customer service for horses and clients of Longfield Stables.
  • Responsible for feeding, watering, haying, cleaning, mucking stalls and turning out/in.
  • Responsible for the bathing, grooming, clipping, pulling manes and wrapping legs.
  • Responsible for administering medications.
  • Assist in directing associates in daily chores/ daily activities.
  • Cleans fly gear, saddle pads, leg wraps, blankets, and tack.
  • Ensures cleanliness and condition of all areas.
  • Ensure standards of safety are upheld and adhered to at all times by employees, guests and clients of Longfield Stables.
  • Meet or exceed client expectations with regard to horse care, upkeep of facilities, and customer service.
  • Daily cleaning of barns, pastures and facilities.
  • Daily horse health care.
  • Monitoring of turnout areas for safety and cleanliness; assistance with event set up.
  • Daily monitoring and replenishment of supplies.


  • 2 years working in an equine/equestrian facility with similar duties and requirements.
  • Minimum 4 years hands-on horse experience.
  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of horses and equine behavior required.
  • Knowledge of basic horse health, first aid and nutrition.
  • Knowledge of farm machinery such as tractors and equipment preferred.
  • Effective communication skills required.
  • Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented.
  • Good problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent horse husbandry and horse handling skills.
  • Must be able to remain calm, think clearly and act quickly and effectively in emergency situations.


Position involves walking, sitting, standing and/or movement throughout the day. Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying and moving objects that can weigh up to 100 lbs. Position may involve riding, exercising and lunging of horses. Required to perform job in all types of weather conditions.
