Course Information

For the avid golfer, a trip to The Inn at Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina is a journey to nirvana. 

Designed to challenge golfers of all skill levels, the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Course meanders through the May River Forest and features wide, inviting fairways with strategic bunkers and natural waste areas. Champions Bermuda greens, well guarded by white-sand bunkers, test your nerves, while gently undulating slopes challenge your putting skills. All tee boxes and fairways feature Paspalum, the newest eco-friendly turf.

Caddie service is required with each round, and we encourage you to walk the course so you can best appreciate the beautiful native landscape.

Clubhouse & Grill

The warmly inviting May River Clubhouse charms golfers with timeless design that recalls the style of classic American golf clubhouses. As you approach, you’ll notice how the handsome cedar-shingled roof blends beautifully into the natural setting of massive live oaks, creating a sense of harmony between the structure and its surroundings. Golfers enter through the open breezeway, offering views of the 9th and 18th greens. Inside, 20-foot vaulted ceilings with exposed beams create a warm yet spacious feel. 

In the golf shop awaits a large selection of the latest golf apparel and equipment. The Clubhouse’s generous amenity list includes 40 day-lockers, showers, shoe care and golf club repair.

May River Grill

Nestled alongside the pristine fairways and stately, 100-year-old live oaks of the May River Golf Club, the May River Bar and Grill at the Clubhouse is an ideal spot for casual dining or a post-round meal in a relaxing, sun-lit atmosphere.

Bar – 11 a.m. until last golfer finishes



Golf Instruction

The award-winning May River Golf Club features certified PGA Professionals as well as a world-class practice facility to help you perfect your game before you hit the links.

The practice facility features a practice range with tee boxes at each end, target greens with bunkers, and a fairway specially shaped down the middle to give the golfer the perfect target. You’ll also find a five-acre short game practice area with three regulation-sized greens, complete with bunkers to work on your short-game finesse shots.

WEEKLY DISCOVERY ACTIVITIES >
Private Instruction

Everyone can benefit from lessons from the PGA Golf Professionals at the May River Golf Club, from those picking up a golf club for the first time to the advanced player. Private instruction is by appointment only and is $100 per hour. (Video analysis available upon request.) 

Resort Clinics

Designed for all skill levels, golf clinics at the May River Golf Club are an enjoyable way to meet fellow guests and improve your game in a relaxing setting. Clinic times and dates are listed on the Discovery Activities sheet.
Group Lessons

Experience a memorable group lesson with your family or a group of friends. Fun and educational, these hour-long golf experiences are tailored to the skill level of your group. Beginners welcome. Please call for reservations. $50 per person. 

3-Hour Learning Program

Benefit from a more intensive instructional session. With complete full-swing and short-game instruction, this three-hour program is perfect for students who wish to sharpen their all-around abilities amidst the beautiful natural surroundings of Palmetto Bluff. Beginners welcome.

Playing Lessons

Maximize your enjoyment of the celebrated May River Golf Club with the guidance of a PGA Professional instructor every step of the way. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn more about your golf swing and short game while experiencing our spectacular Jack Nicklaus-designed Signature Course.

Day With The Pro

Treat yourself to your own golf coach for the day. With eight hours of golf instruction personalized to your needs, the day could consist of eight hours of full swing instruction; four hours of full swing and four hours of short game; or eight hours on the golf course.

Golf School

Family Traditions Golf School

Designed for families visiting Palmetto Bluff, this program enables you to share the tradition of playing golf with your children while spending family time together. The school can be designed for the specific needs of your group and is limited to only one family at a time. Maximum class size is four family members. (Family school is designed for parent/child only).

Membership

Golf Membership at May River Golf Club is second to none. Your membership initiation deposit is 100% fully refundable and playing privileges cover everyone in your immediate family through age 24.  Full use of practice facilities, short game areas and bag storage are included. As an added benefit, once your children turn 25 years of age they are entitled to 50% off the guest of member golfing rates.
