The Carolina Lowcountry has a rich architectural heritage. Many of the earliest building forms and details were developed in response to the coastal, semi-tropical climate, local traditions and available materials. The result is architecture with a comfortable, human scale well suited to contemporary interpretations.
The natural landscape is seen as the primary "form giver." Homes with simple relaxed forms nestle into the landscape, creating outdoor rooms as extensions of interior living spaces.
